Amy Rose is a part-time lecturer on the BA Performing Arts and BA Musical Theatre courses at University Centre Weston (UCW).  She teaches theatre and performance studies and oversees independent research projects and dissertations.  She helps students to explore the relationships between performance practice, industry trends, theoretical perspectives and wider socio-historical contexts.  Shaped by student’s interests, topics include theatre and politics, post dramatic theatre, performance and identity and more.

Although initially sometimes daunted by these more ‘academic’ elements of their course,  Amy’s students claim that her lessons have ignited curiosity, increased critical awareness, built vocabularies, developed confidence, inspired their own practice and deepened their wider appreciation of performing arts.  Amy aims to teach in a way that engages a wide range of learning styles, employing embodied, aesthetic and problem-based approaches wherever possible.

She is part of a research group exploring creative, integrated approaches to teaching theory and context in Creative Arts.

UCW’s BA Performing Arts and BA Musical Theatre is delivered in partnership with Bath Spa University.
