Artists as leaders event; Create Gloucestershire

What can be learned from arts practices in the context of social and political leadership?  Can artists provide/propose new models for leadership?  These are just a few of the questions I and others were considering when invited to give a talk at Create Gloucestershire‘s recent birthday celebrations with the theme Artists as Leaders.  The panel included Sally Byng, Barnwood Trust; Tom Andrews, People United; artist Jaine Rose (no relation) discussing her Wool Against Weapons project and me, on behalf of Playing Out.

My talk traced the story of the way that my arts practices shaped how Playing Out’s approaches and processes.  It also reflects on some of the challenges of integrating artist’s processes within organisational structures and how such collaborations might be developed.
